Swiss IT Company Veeam Acquires Cloud Backup Startup N2WS for $42.5 Million

N2WS provides enterprise backup and disaster recovery for Amazon Web Services (AWS). It lists Coca-Cola, Dyson, Oracle and Harvard University among its clients

Switzerland-headquartered IT company Veeam Software has acquired cloud data protection startup N2W Software Ltd. (N2WS) in a $42.5 million cash deal, the company announced Tuesday.

N2WS provides enterprise backup and disaster recovery for Amazon Web Services (AWS). Founded in 2012, the company is headquartered in Florida, with a research and development center in Haifa, a city in the north of Israel, and additional offices in the U.K. It lists Coca-Cola, Dyson, Oracle and Harvard University among its clients.

According to the statement, N2WS will continue to operate as an independent company, keeping its brand name and working under the Veeam umbrella.

Peter McKay, co-CEO, and president at Veeam said in a statement that combining Veeam’s protection of virtual, physical and cloud environments with N2WS’ AWS data protection, creates a comprehensive solution for digital enterprises. “N2WS has experienced incredible growth in the last 12 months and it will continue to operate as a standalone business to best position the company to provide AWS data protection,” he said.

Founded in 2006, and headquartered in Baar, Switzerland, with offices in 31 countries worldwide, Veeam develops backup, disaster recovery and data management software for virtual, physical and cloud-based workloads.
