Indian national carrier Air India is set to increase the frequency of its service to Israel by offering daily flights between Delhi and Tel Aviv, Indian media outlets report. Air India’s direct five-hour route to Tel Aviv launched in March, and the company is currently operating two weekly flights. It is the only service between India and Israel that passes through Saudi airspace, reducing flight time by several hours. Saudi Arabia does not maintain official diplomatic ties with Israel. In March, Israel's national carrier El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. petitioned Israel’s Supreme Court to be granted the same flight permits as Air India, claiming it is being discriminated against.
