German supplier of automotive cameras ZF Friedrichshafen AG has teamed up with Intel’s Mobileye on safety camera system for cars, to be supplied to a major unnamed car parts manufacturer, the companies announced late June. The companies will collaborate on S-Cam4, a family of single and three-lens cameras for use with advanced driver assistance systems and automated driving functions. The cameras are compliant with The European New Car Assessment Programme, and can automatically bring the car to a halt when it detects a pedestrian, the companies said in a statement. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. ZF is a privately owned company with over 140,000 employees. Founded in 1999, Mobileye develops sensor-based driving assistance systems. After being acquired by Intel for $15.3 billion in 2017, Mobileye’s Jerusalem headquarters became Intel’s global autonomous vehicle development center.
