Elta Systems Ltd., a subsidiary of defense contractor Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (IAI), is partnering with Florida-based communication consulting and solutions company TLC Solutions Inc. to develop a drone-mounted search and rescue system. The system will utilize cellular phones to locate victims under ruins and in disaster zones. The announcement was made on Tuesday by the BIRD—Israel-U.S. Binational Industrial R&D Foundation, which will invest in the project.

Last week, IAI announced a collaboration with Croatian vehicle and robotic systems manufacturer DOK-ING d.o.o., to manufacture and market a robotic system for high-risk areas, such as environments exposed to chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
