Celebrating its 120 anniversary, the Paris Motor Show is one of the world’s biggest auto events, drawing crowds of hundreds of thousands.
This year, Calcalist and CTech join the show, leading a delegation of Israeli auto tech companies. As part of the event industry leaders will get to meet Israeli entrepreneurs and get hands-on experience with the car and mobility innovation hailing from the country’s vibrant startup hub.
The auto industry needs “new things coming from the outside,” said Antoine Basseville, director of a Tel Aviv innovation lab operated by Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi. “In the last several years, the mobility technology ecosystem in Israel has really exploded,” said Michael Granoff, a managing partner at Tel Aviv-based venture capital fund Maniv Mobility. The fund has invested in 18 Israeli mobility startups to date. Emphasizing the central place of the Paris Motor Show, Fiona Darmon, a general partner, and chief operating officer at Israel-based venture capital fund Jerusalem Venture Partners, said the show is “a natural place for Israel to be coming together with France.” “It’s definitely the place for Israeli startups to want to be,” she said.
