IAI Introduces Autonomous Explosive Device Detection System

Government-owned defense contractor Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (IAI) has unveiled on Monday a new autonomous system for the detection of improvised explosive devices (IED). According to IAI, the system, which includes a combination of sensors installed on a robotic platform, can pinpoint and demolish concealed IEDs and mines. It can operate in any terrain, reducing risk to ground forces.

The system, which is part of the SAHAR family of robotic explosive detection and route clearing technologies, is currently being tested by IAI.

Tel Aviv-listed IAI is Israel’s largest aerospace and defense company.
