ELTA Systems Ltd., a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (IAI), will provide the U.S Army with radars for tanks. The WindGuard radar continually scans for anti-missile threats, including anti-tank rockets or guided missiles. The system is currently in use in Israeli military "Merkava“ tanks and "Namer“ armored vehicles.
Last month, Rafael demonstrated the system in its field experiments in the south of Israel, in the presence of officials from the U.S., and NATO. Rafael is anticipating initial contracts with countries that took part in the demonstration in 2019.
