Gillette Partners with 3D Printer Company Formlabs to Customize Razors
Their new program will enable consumers to create and order personalized razor handles
Right now, Gillette’s 3D-printed razor handle program is only shipping to the United States. The customized handles start at $19 and the expected ship time is 2-3 weeks.The handles will be printed at Gillette’s Boston headquarters.
Founded in 2011 by MIT alumni Mr. Lobovsky, David Cranor and Israeli expat Natan Linder, Formlabs raised $2.9 million in a Kickstarter campaign for the development of its first printer model the following year. Today the company develops, designs and manufactures professional-grade desktop 3D printers and employs over 500 people. The company raised a $15 million round in August according to a pre-money company valuation of$1.05 billion. Formlab’s total equity funding to date is more than $103 million, according to pitchbook data.
