Data protection and compliance startup Cognigo, registered as D.Day Labs Ltd., has raised $8.5 million in a series A round, the company announced Tuesday. The round was led by Israel-based Equity crowdfunding company OurCrowd Ltd., with the participation of Madrid-headquartered security company Prosegur Compañía de Seguridad SA, and State of Mind Ventures.

Founded in 2016 and based in Tel Aviv, Cognigo develops an artificial intelligence-based platform that helps organizations manage and protect critical data records and achieve compliance with privacy regulations such as GDPR. The company intends to use the funding for product development and to expand its sales and marketing team.
