Guardian Optical Technologies Ltd., a Tel Aviv startup developing a sensor for car interiors, announced on Tuesday an investment of $2.5 million from Union Ventures, B&E Equities, and additional private investors. The investment comes just months after Guardian announced a $3.1 million investment from investors including Mirai Creation Fund, Goldbell Investments, and TransLink Capital. In a statement, the company said it will use the money to expand its research and development operations.

Guardian develops sensors designed to scan the interior of vehicles and detect the presence and size of passengers for a variety of potential applications, such as the smarter deployment of airbags. Founded in 2014, the company has raised $14.7 million to date, according to Pitchbook data.
