Korea-listed car parts manufacturer Sungwoo Hitech Co. Ltd. has invested $20 million in Israel-based autonomous car safety startup AdaSky Ltd., the companies announced Thursday. Based in the northern Israeli town of Yokneam, AdaSky was founded in 2015 by former engineers at government-owned Israeli defense contractor Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. The company develops a high-resolution infrared sensor for autonomous vehicles. The system is capable of detecting objects around the car even under difficult weather conditions and in low-visibility environments, according to company statements. AdaSky intends to use the funding for research and development, according to the statement.
