Red Hat Acquires Israeli Cloud Management Startup NooBaa
NooBaa develops software for managing data storage services across hybrid and multicloud environments

Software company Red Hat Inc. has acquired Tel Aviv-based startup Y.G. NooBaa Ltd., the former announced Tuesday. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but one person familiar with the matter who spoke to Calcalist on condition of anonymity put the sum at around $20 million.

Founded in 2013 by former Dell employees, Noobaa develops software for managing data storage services across hybrid and multicloud environments. The company offers a data platform that serves as an abstraction layer over existing storage infrastructure, enabling intercloud data portability and allowing users to manage data stored in multiple locations as a single, coherent data set. The company previously raised $5 million from investors including Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP), Jerusalem-based equity crowdfunding company OurCrowd Ltd., and Hawaii-based AKAMAI Capital.NooBaa's technology will be added to Red Hat's existing portfolio of hybrid cloud offerings, Red Hat said.
