Multinational chipmaker Intel announced Sunday it intends to recruit 150 unskilled employees to its expanding manufacturing plant in Kiryat Gat, a small town in the south of Israel. The recruitment plan is part of a job placement initiative focused on the country’s southern towns, which offer fewer work opportunities than the country’s more affluent center. Intel said in a statement it has already hired 50 employees as part of the initiative, all without academic degrees or tech industry experience. As part of the program, Intel provides the recruits with technical training.

Intel employs approximately 4,000 people in its facility in Kiryat Gat. In May, Intel announced a $5-billion expansion plan of the facility, which manufactures chips for servers, workstations, mobile computers, and desktops.
