Four Israeli startups have made it to the finals of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) startup competition, first announced last June in partnership with Spain's largest tourism group, Globalia Corporación Empresarial SA. Almost 3,000 startups from 132 countries applied to the competition, which focused on innovative and sustainable technologies and projects for the tourism industry. The 10 finalists will present in Madrid in January 2019.
Among the finalists is Pruvo Net Ltd., which aims to save on the costs of travel accommodation by tracking fluctuations in hotel prices; SeeVoov, incorporated as GoBeenThere Ltd., which develops an interactive video-based trip planner; Howazit Ltd., developers of a customer communication platform; and Refundit Ltd., which develops an app that helps tourists get value-added tax (VAT) refunds. All four are part of the Israel Travel Tech Startups (ITTS) community.
