Airobotics Receives FAA Waiver to Fly Drones Beyond Visual Line of Sight

Drone maker Airobotics has received a certificate of waiver from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that allows it to fly drones without requiring a visual line of sight by a human operator, the company announced Tuesday. Airobotics operates automatic drones for mining facilities and factories, and the waiver permits it to operate in the U.S. In an interview with Calcalist published last week, Airobotics CEO Ran Krauss said the company’s future plans include making drones to be used for border security. Late last month, Israel-founded Airobotics moved most of its operations, including its global headquarters, to Scottsdale, Arizona. The company still maintains its research and development center in the Tel Aviv area. Founded in 2014, Airobotics has raised $101 million to date.
