Founded in 2015, Uniti is developing a nimble, fully electric car designed for urban drivers. Supported by $1.3 million in crowdfunded money, Uniti is set to begin manufacturing next year. Uniti’s two and four-seat vehicles are designed from sustainable materials. According to the company’s website, the vehicles will have a maximum speed of 130-150 kilometers-per-hour and a range of 285 kilometers.

“We work differently (than other electric car developers), emphasizing efficiency, sustainability, and simplicity,” Horne said, adding that Uniti is looking to win over car sharing companies, and not private vehicle owners, as its biggest market sector. Another model Uniti is testing is for the company to own the batteries, making car ownership much cheaper.

Horne said that Uniti does not want to control the manufacturing of its cars, instead saying that the company will be happy to share the knowledge with entrepreneurs who will establish localized manufacturing facilities.

Horne, who is in Israel this week as a guest of the SAE Connected and Automated Vehicle conference in Tel Aviv, said he sees local companies as global leaders in machine vision and vehicle cybersecurity.
