Israel’s National Broadcaster Kan has halted the sale of tickets for the Eurovision contest until further notice, Kan announced Sunday, citing “irregularities” as the cause. Ticket sale for the three-day event began Thursday evening, on Israeli online ticket seller Leaan Ticket Office Ltd.

According to Kan, its monitoring systems detected attempts by several parties to interfere with the sale, raising suspicions that hundreds of the most expensive tickets, priced at up to NIS 2,000 (approximately $550), were sold exclusively to media and sports executives instead of to the general public, in contrast to Kan’s explicit guidelines.

Representatives from 41 countries will participate in the international song contest that will be held for the 64th time on May 14, 16, and 18, at the Expo Tel Aviv convention center.
