Compass Buys San Francisco Real Estate Firm Alain Pinel, Report Says

The acquisition, first reported by real estate industry news site Inman.com, is the third such deal in Compass’ West Coast expansion strategy

New York-based real estate startup Compass Inc. has bought Bay Area real estate company Alain Pinel Realtors, according to a Monday report by real estate industry news site Inman.com. The financial terms of the deal were not published.

This is a third acquisition made as part of Compass’ West Coast expansion strategy this year. In July, Compass bought San Francisco-based brokerage firm Paragon Real Estate Group. In August, it acquired Pacific Union International Inc., a San Francisco-based luxury real estate company. At the time of the acquisition, Pacific Union was ranked the fifth-largest brokerage firm in the U.S., having reported sales volume of $14 billion in 2017.

Last week, real estate news site the Real Deal reported that Compass had acquired Washington, D.C.-based brokerage customer relationship management (CRM) company Contactually Inc.

Founded in 2012 by Robert Reffkin and Israeli entrepreneur Ori Allon, Compass has raised a total of $1.2 billion to date.
