Nasdaq and Tel Aviv-listed advanced driver assistance systems company Foresight Autonomous Holdings Ltd. has snagged the gold prize in the autonomous vehicles subcategory at the 2019 Edison Awards, held Thursday in New York.

Israeli robot company Temi Global Ltd. received gold at the personal robotics subcategory, for its video-oriented autonomous personal assistant. Nasdaq-listed and Israel-headquartered solar energy company SolarEdge Technologies Inc. received silver in solar advancements.

Named after Thomas Edison and held by nonprofit organization Edison Universe, the Edison Awards are announced each April with the intention of fostering technological innovation. They award gold, silver, and bronze prizes in 16 categories such as transportation and logistics, industrial design, energy and sustainability, and space innovation. Each category is divided into several subcategories.

Companies looking to compete in the awards must pay a nomination fee of $1,000, and winners are selected by a judging panel composed of over 3,000 business executives and academics in relevant industries. A percentage of the Edison Awards proceeds goes towards an innovation scholarship program operated by the nonprofit.

Notable winners this year include IBM, which nabbed both the gold and silver prizes in the next gen computing subcategory as well as prizes in several other categories; Major League Baseball, which was awarded gold at the sports analytics category; Unilever, which took gold in home solutions; and Medtronic, which topped the diabetes management subcategory.
