El Al Is Actively Looking for AI and Machine Learning Startups, Says Executive

Israel’s national airline El Al is actively looking for AI and machine learning startups to collaborate with, Shahar Markovitch, chief digital and information officer at El Al, said Thursday at Calcalist’s annual Mind the Tech conference in New York.

“El Al is the biggest restaurant in Israel, we feed 6 million customers every year. Think about the logistical complexity of preparing that food, bringing it to the customer, getting rid of it,” Markovitch said. As such, the company is looking at collaborating with startups in the fields of AI and machine learning that can assist the airline in becoming “smarter,” he said.
