Based in central Israeli town Herzliya, Milkit Ltd. offers cafes and restaurants an electric milk-dispensing system that delivers accurately-measured doses of milk at the push of a button. The system connects to a patented 10 to 15-liter milk bag, saving on single-use milk containers and helping to reduce milk waste through the use of a programmable, accurate pour.
In a recent interview, Milkit co-founder Assaf Blank told Calcalist that more accurate dispensing of milk helps reduce pollution as well as create a meaningful saving to restaurateurs. Businesses using the Milkit tap have reported reducing at least 8% of their milk use, with some businesses reporting using 15% less milk.
Blank reports raising $1.5 million in funding since founding the company in 2014. Milkit operates more than 500 milk taps in Israel and in six additional countries, and is looking to reach 2,000 machines in 2020, Blank said.
