Artists Should Not Have to Wait a Year to Get Paid, Says Royalty Distribution Startup Exec

Artists get paid sometimes up to a year after their music has been released, Alain Prasquier, the chief technology officer of Jerusalem-based royalty distribution startup Revelator Ltd. said Monday at Calcalist’s conference on music and technology, which was held in Tel Aviv.

The industry needs to catch up and artists should be paid in real-time, Pasquier said.

Founded in 2012, Revelator develops a blockchain-based platform for royalty distributions to copyright owners. The company has raised $5.5 million to date, according to Pitchbook data, and has 90,000 monthly users.
