Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. will close its manufacturing plant in Mexico, Missouri at the beginning of 2020, according to a Wednesday report by the Mexico Ledger. Producing active pharmaceutical ingredients, the plant employs 47 people, the report said.

According to the report, Teva has been in contact with the local union, governmental entities, customers, and suppliers regarding the timing of the plant’s shut down.

Teva’s manufacturing plant in Israeli city Netanya is also slated for final closure in early 2020, as part of the company’s reorganization plan, announced in December 2017. As part of the plan, Teva announced its intention to cut 25% of its global workforce and divest many of its assets by 2020.

Approached for comment by Calcalist, Teva confirmed that it will shut down its Missouri plant in the first quarter of 2020. The company will, as always, provide its laid off employees with fair, competitive severance pay and access to placement services, Teva said.
