Hainan Airlines Holding Co Ltd. will halt its direct route from Tel Aviv to Shanghai as of next month, a company spokesperson told Calcalist Monday, citing logistical issues. The company intends to re-launch the route in the spring or summer of 2020, the spokesperson said. This is the only direct route connecting the two cities.
Hainan is China’s fourth-largest airline. The company operates 1,800 routes and its other lines from Israel’s Ben Gurion airport, to Beijing and to the southeastern Chinese city of Shenzhen, will continue to run as scheduled, the spokesperson said.
