Ashdod Port Company Ltd. is looking for new growth opportunities, Orna Hozman Bechor, the chairwoman of the Ashdod Port Company said Monday at Calcalist and Bank Leumi's National Economic Conference held in Tel Aviv.

“We want to become the Amazon of the sea: effective, quick, and transparent,” Hozman said. Future competition, she said, will revolve around service and around ships’ waiting time. “Today a ship can wait several days outside the port and this means money is lost,” she said. “We want a quicker process.”

To get there, the port is making strategic investments in state-of-the-art technology and equipment such as new cranes, Hozman said. There will always be a need for Israeli ports, but what will drive the Ashdod port forward is competition and efficiency, she said.
