Metabolism Hacking Company Lumen Raises $8.5 Million

Israel-based metabolism tracking company Lumen, incorporated as Metaflow Ltd., has raised a $8.5 million funding round, the company announced Monday. The round was led by Hong Kong-listed H&H company and Unorthodox Ventures, with participation from Disruptive Venture Capital and Gigi Levy, bringing the company's total raised to date to $15.5 million.
Over the past year, Lumen sold some 11,000 devices for a total $2.3 million through its crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, according to company statements.Under development since the company’s establishment in 2014, the Lumen device relies on respiratory quotient (RQ), the ratio of CO2 production compared to oxygen consumption, and uses QR to determine whether a user's body is burning fat or carbohydrates. An AI-based app provides nutrition and fitness recommendations to users based on the test's results and personal goals.
