New York-based internet of things (IoT) cybersecurity startup Firedome Inc. has raised $10 million in a series A funding round, the company announced Wednesday.

Founded in 2018 by Israeli entrepreneurs Moti Shkolnik and Sharon Mirsky, Firedome develops endpoint cybersecurity technologies for detecting, preventing, and responding in real-time to vulnerabilities in connected IoT devices.

The round, which brought Firedome’s total funding to date to $14.5 million, was led by New York-based Two Sigma Ventures. SilverTech Ventures and existing investor World Trade Ventures also participated.

Firedome’s clients are manufacturers that understand a hack of their products can be extremely damaging to their image and their bottom line, Shkolnik, who serves as the company’s CEO, said in an interview with Calcalist Wednesday.

According to Shkolnik, one of the main obstacles Firedome faces is handling a multitude of different operating systems. “With a personal computer, there are two common operating systems, but IoT devices come in a nearly infinite number of systems,” he said.
