This week’s winners are:
Plant-based egg substitute startup Zero Egg, for winning this year’s food innovation competition held by Calcalist, Israeli food processing company Tnuva, and accounting firm KPMG. Zero Egg was chosen out of 11 finalists that presented their technology at FoodTech 2019 conference in Tel Aviv. Read more
Marketing company AppsFlyer, for raising a $200 million series D round led by growth equity firm General Atlantic. AppsFlyer’s Software tracks and analyzes the performance of marketing campaigns on mobile apps, enabling app operators to know how their most profitable users reached the app. Read more
And finally, Israeli town Kiryat Gat, that will benefit from Intel's decision to put it’s $11 Billion expansion plan back on track. Several suppliers originally contracted by Intel have been informed recently that construction work could resume as early as December. Read more
This week’s loser is:
Israeli surveillance company NSO Group, for being sued by Facebook for allegedly using WhatsApp to infect hundreds of users with surveillance malware. The company has been under scrutiny over the past two years for using its technology in many cases of human rights violations around the world. Read more
This week’s data point: $2.24 Billion
Israel-based or linked companies raised $2.24 billion across 142 deals in the third quarter of 2019, more than in any quarter since 2013. According to a report by research firm IVC and ZAG-S&W law firm thirteen deals of over $50 million each accounted for 57% of the quarterly sum. Read more
