Israel-based public transit app developer Moovit App Global Ltd. has launched an augmented reality feature that adds digital directions, icons, and notifications to live camera view to help users locate correct bus stops and subway stations. Moovit announced the new feature, called Way Finder, Thursday.
According to Moovit, the new feature was added following a user’s feedback on Facebook that read “a feature that I need for Moovit: cross the street, stupid. You are on the wrong side.” the company said in a statement.
Founded in 2012 and based in central Israel, Moovit develops and offers a free mobile navigation app providing real-time public transit information in 3,000 cities and 92 countries. Moovit’s app has over 500 million users, adding to the company’s database of over 7,000 public transportation operators, according to company statements.
