Israel recorded its 117 coronavirus (Covid-19) death and saw a total of 11,868 confirmed Covid-19 cases as of Tuesday morning, according to the country’s Health Ministry. The number of people in severe condition reached 181, with 136 of them requiring connection to ventilators. More than 2,000 people throughout the country have recovered from the disease.

Early Tuesday morning, the government approved emergency regulations on increased restrictions for going out into the public sphere for the seventh day of Passover. Starting at five pm Tuesday evening and until 5 am Thursday morning, Israelis may not leave the community in which they live unless it is to buy food, medicine, or other essential products, or to receive essential services that are otherwise unobtainable in their area.

As of Monday night and until Thursday morning, all public transportation services are halted.

These restrictions shall not apply to communities where the majority of the residents are not Jewish.

On Thursday afternoon, the Cabinet will convene a discussion on whether to start rolling back some of the restrictions put in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The National Security Council told ministers that the strategy would depend on maintaining a low level of patients to allow for a margin of error.
