Israel’s Council for Higher Education announced Tuesday it has approved a new bachelor’s degree program in medtech. The program will start in the next school year, scheduled to open in October, at central Israeli academic institution Holon Institute of Technology (HIT) and the first cohort will include 60 students.
The program will focus on digital technologies for medicine, including telemedicine, smart medical systems, and big data. Alumni are expected to enter the bio-med and info-med industries as medical data analysts while some of them will continue to a four-year med school program.
HIT intends to gradually increase the number of students in each cohort of the four year-program, training hundreds of students within a few years.
