Herzliya-based e-mail application startup Spike, registered as ChatFlow Ltd., has raised $8 million in a series A round led by New York-based venture capital and private equity firm Insight Partners.

Spike has developed a mobile application that puts existing e-mails into a multimedia mobile messaging, chat-like interface enhanced with voice and video calls. Memos, reminders and the option to share documents have also all been recently added to the platform.

Spike was founded by Dvir Ben-Aroya, who serves as CEO, and Erez Pilosof, the CTO. The new funds will allow Spike to accelerate its growth and add additional tools and services to its platform while doubling its current workforce of 14 employees.

The company has raised $16 million to date. Previous investors include website building company Wix.com Ltd., San Francisco-based venture capital firm NFX Capital and Massachusettes-based fund Koa Labs LLC, as well as angel investors Guy Gamzo and Aryeh Mergi.

Daniel Aronovitz, vice president at Insight Partners, will join Spike's board of directors.

"Today the biggest number ever of teams and people are required to stay in touch and be equipped to work remotely," said Ben-Aroyah. "Spike is at a place that allows it to lead this reinvented workspace and the way people work."
