Zohar Zisapel backs autonomous car connectivity startup DriveU in $4 million round

DriveU develops a system capable of transmitting the vast amounts of data required for the remote operation of various autonomous vehicles

Israeli entrepreneur and investor Zohar Zisapel led a $4 million round for autonomous car connectivity startup DriveU Tech Ltd., the company announced Wednesday.

Additional investors in the round include Two Lanterns Venture Partners, Kaedan Capital, Israeli businessman Yigal Yaacobi, and existing investor Francisco Partners Management LLC.

Last year, Francisco Partners, together with Tel Aviv-based Israel Growth Partners (IGP) Ltd., acquired LiveU Ltd., the startup that developed the technology on which DriveU’s system is based.

Founded in 2019 and based in Israeli central town Kfar Saba, DriveU develops a system that allows the remote operation of various autonomous vehicles, including taxis, trucks, and drones. The system is capable of transmitting vast amounts of data, overriding connectivity issues by using multiple networks and platforms, cellular bonding, and dynamic encoding
