The IDF revealed on Thursday that its first-ever female F-35 pilot has been appointed as deputy commander of the Israel Air Force's 116th "Southern Lions" F-35 squadron.
The 26-year-old is identified as Captain S., with her name and face being classified. She graduated from the pilot's course in 2016, and flew F-16s prior to joining the 116th squadron to fly the advanced stealth fighter jet.
While Capt. S isn't the first woman to fly an F-35, with the U.S. having several female pilots, the Israeli is believed to be only the second woman to fly the advanced fifth-generation stealth fighter jet in combat
