Mekorot’s Senior Water Engineer, Galit Sasson, joined Lior Gutman at Calcalist and CTech’s Mind The Tech 2020 conference to discuss some of the ways Israel’s leading water supplier is innovating its technologies. Notably, Sasson highlighted how Mekorot has gone entirely paperless during the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
“We are a paperless company, which is important not just environmentally, but also saves money and resources,” she explained. “All our financial reports are paperless, our human resources are managed paperless - everything is remote.” As well as going digital in its communication, Sasson also lauded the introduction of fibre optics technology to help identify leakage in a more conservative way. Since Israel is situated in the middle east, “we have a semi-arid climate and our challenges are vast.” Mekorot was founded in 1937 and supplied Israel with 90% of its drinking water through almost 700 pumping stations and 1,200 wells. It is the latest sector to join the myriad of startups that use innovative new technologies to optimize their business.
