Booking.com CEO: "We've had good success buying companies in Israel and we will continue to look out there"

"All pandemics do end at some point and hopefully this one ends soon. One thing that we have seen happen is because people were afraid to be with other people, instead of staying at a hotel they wanted to stay at homes. That trend has been going on for some time but because of the pandemic the number of people interested in that type of accommodation jumped substantially and I think that is going to continue for a long time," said Glenn Fogel, President and CEO at Booking Holdings and CEO at Booking.com, speaking at Calcalist's E-commerce 360 conference organized in partnership with Phoenix Insurance.

"Another thing is that people are a lot more interested in flexibility. They want to be able to cancel and change their plans and don't want to have to pay a lot of money because they canceled," added Fogel.

Fogel also spoke of investing in Israel, past and future. "We are always looking at companies that would fit in our portfolio and be helpful in what we are trying to achieve," said Fogel. "We did buy a company, Evature, which was the foundation in Israel for our Tel Aviv center, and we also bought a company named Qlicka. We've had good success buying companies in Israel and we will continue to look out there."
