Retail companies are looking to sell their products online as soon as possible to stay afloat amid Covid-19 lockdowns, Global-e co-founder and CEO Amir Schlachet told CTech in an interview at Calcalist’s E-commerce 360 conference. Global-E offers an online vendor localization platform that “works with merchants all around the world and allows companies to sell their products internationally to anyone, anywhere in the world.”

“We’ve seen big changes in consumer shopping from over a decade ago, and that is why we started Global-e. We saw that more and more people were buying online, and caring less where the product came from, but wanted to get it from the retailer. Covid-19 hit the fast-forward button, because people were stuck in their homes and wanted to make purchases. Merchants understood when their storefronts were closed, this was the only way to reach shoppers,” he added.

Clients have come up with robust online marketing strategies, to bring their products online as fast as possible. “Selling directly to consumers is part of many retail businesses’ strategies,” he said. In addition, people have seen the ease and effectiveness of online shopping, he explained, and Global-e helped speed up that process.

Recently, Global-e completed its IPO, and its share value has doubled since then. “We are at the beginning of the next chapter of our company, and have a winning product that merchants and users want to use. We’d like to add more clients, countries, and huge opportunities in the market.”
