“The e-commerce boom started many years ago, and people thought it was over, but it is ongoing. People like to buy things in different ways and are looking for new experiences. They cannot live with how things were before. From the retailer's side, ecommerce has changed completely. People are buying more online, and the cost has changed too,” said Ayal Itzkovich, Managing Partner at Pitango, speaking at Calcalist’s E-commerce 360 conference.

“What we are seeing now is the convergence of online and offline businesses. If e-commerce was a synonym in the past for online purchases or online assets, today online and offline have converged,” he said, adding that people have different experiences when they purchase something on their cell phones compared to actually being inside of a store.

He added that Pitango has invested in Signals Analytics' insight platform, which connects to in-store shoppers’ phones, and makes all the items also appear as digitally-connected items.
