“Gone are the days where Israeli entrepreneurs just want to create a wonder-kid in technology and sell it early,” said Erel Margalit, Founder and Executive Chairman of JVP. “They want to create international market leaders. You need, in addition to the scientific and invention disciplines, the marketing and sales disciplines, and you need the connection between Israel and the U.S in order to create something that’s really large and makes a big difference.”

Margalit made his comments speaking to James Spiro at Calcalist’s Mind The Tech conference currently taking place in New York. Margalit shared that there are approximately 650 Israeli startups in the Big Apple, 35 of which get assistance from Margalit Startup City based in Manhattan’s Soho neighborhood.

“It is creating a community… all of us are working together in order to put New York on the map and to give the West Coast a run for its money. But also to put Israel in the international arena in a big way.”
