“We specifically focused on extracting and utilizing resources on the lunar surface, mainly oxygen, in order to propel the coming lunar industry,” explained Jonathan Geifman, Co-Founder and CEO of Helios. “Humanity is going back to the Moon in the coming three years, and the first lunar base is going to be launched to the Moon in the coming five years.”
According to Geifman: “There are going to be more missions to the lunar surface than there was during the Apollo missions. Oxygen is going to be the most sought-after consumable in that industry and we are focusing our technologies on extracting that oxygen from the lunar ground.” Helios focuses its efforts on two main verticals. The first is space resources and the second is the steel industry on Earth derived from the extraterrestrial technology they’re developing. “We have developed technology to dramatically reduce the carbon emission and carbon footprint from the steel industry by coming up with a new method to produce steel,” Geifman explained You can watch the entire exchange in the video above.
