Just last week Oribi celebrated its acquisition by LinkedIn for around $90 million. That marked the world’s largest professional network’s first acquisition in Israel and the Microsoft-owned company announced that it would be opening a center in Israel. However, a significant part of Oribi’s employees will not be taking part in the celebrations, with Calcalist learning that the company has fired most of its teams that work with clients, including many marketing, sales, and customer support staff. According to estimations, 17 employees are set to be fired, leaving Oribi with around 40 employees in total.

In an approach sent out to her colleagues, Oribi CEO and co-founder Iris Shoor, wrote: “As part of the acquisition, LinkedIn’s focus will be on technology and building a development center. As is the case in many acquisitions, the teams that worked with clients (sales, marketing and CS) will mostly not be continuing. If you are looking for anyone in these positions this is your lucky day. They are all wonderful and I’m certain that they will contribute a lot to any company they join. I’m attaching a list of all the employees that won’t be continuing, a little bit about them and what they are looking for now.”

Following the sale last week, Shoor wrote in a Facebook post: “Culture was always something that burned within me and I’m looking forward to the opportunity of building a new center that will combine LinkedIn’s excellent culture and Oribi’s unique culture. We are already beginning to expand the center and recruit developers.”
