“We are NOT a ticketing company, which is odd for a company that sells tickets to events,” Jack Groetzinger, Co-Founder & CEO, SeatGeek admitted at Calclaist’s Mind the Tech 2022 Conference in New York. “But we chose that value (‘not a ticketing company’) because we wanted to start with the idea that we really are going to win or lose, live or die, by technology, by the power or what we build.”

Groetzinger and Entrée Capital Managing Partner Avi Eyal were participating in a fireside chat moderated by Guy Franklin, Founder & General Partner of 'Israeli Mapped in NY' Venture, entitled “Facing the Biggest and Toughest Tech Titans”.

When asked about technology as a differentiator, Groetzinger said, “We are in stark contrast with many companies that we compete with. They may have different and unrelated structural advantages, but we do believe we have the best technology - and it’s not even really close.”

Fellow panelist Eyal also marveled at SeatGeek’s ability to survive the pandemic. “Who would have thought that SeatGeek’s business would go down to zero during Covid when there were no live shows or sporting events with fans anywhere,” Eyal said. “And here they are still alive and successful. It's unbelievable.”
