“I think we face some challenging days in Israel right in the political sector, but let's separate politics for a moment from innovation and the potential of Israel,” said Professor Yaniv Erlich, CEO of Eleven Therapeutics. “One thing about the high-tech scene in Israel is that it is quite cohesive and it has a fantastic network effect.”

Professor Erlich joined CTech ahead of Calcalist’s Mind The Tech London 2023 conference to share some thoughts on the Israeli ecosystem and what he hopes to hear from experts from around the world. “The moment you enter this Israeli ecosystem, it is this very dense network of people who know each other and can help each other. It is very friendly and very amicable. And everyone is excited about things.”

This year, it is difficult to ignore some of the challenges faced in both the tech and political spheres. Looking ahead at what the conference may discuss, Professor Erlich is remaining somber yet optimistic. “I think these days are quite dire in some situations. We heard many opinions about what it could possibly entail to the Israeli ecosystem. I would like to hear more from founders from all over the world at this conference and Israeli entrepreneurs and VCs, and just hear about the dynamic and see what they think about where this market is going… it is something we need to face and we need to have a very sober perspective about it.”
