“Great founders are in the networks of other great founders”

“In very mature ecosystems, taking the example of Silicon Valley, you get this extraordinary collision effect where great founders are constantly colliding with other great founders, and there is this density which really fuels everything further,” said Founding General Partner at Kindred Capital Leila Zenga. “I think in Europe it is an incredibly exciting place to be both living and investing, but there’s the UK, there’s the European continent, there is Israel where we have made a number of investments. It is much more emergent but much more diverse and dispersed.”

Kindred Capital’s model is to find and meet 3,000 founders every year, and eventually, make 8-10 high-conviction investments in who they think are the most ambitious Seed stage founders building companies across Europe and Israel. “Then, we make them partners in the fund and we treat them as our fifth partner… it is this concept that ‘great people know great people’. Great founders are in the networks of other great founders. And we essentially simulate that density of extraordinary talent.”
