“Don’t rush to run after trends and buzzwords - it's fluff”

“At the end of the day, there are two key pillars that give a company true success - one is an incredible team and the second is solving a real pain,” explained Lior Simon, General Partner at Cyberstarts. “If you have those two then you have a chance of becoming an important successful company.”

Cyberstarts is an early-stage VC that invests solely in cybersecurity companies. Simon spoke to CTech during Calcalist and LeumiTech’s Early on the Spot conference, sharing how early-stage companies can grow in an ever-challenging market.

“Don’t rush to run after trends and buzzwords - it's fluff,” she continued. “It’s not what is going to enable you to build an important company. Focus on what matters, spend time with the market, ask great questions, and challenge yourself early on to make sure you're on the right path. Find the problem that is significant enough from a potentially large market that you can expand into in time, and choose your co-founders wisely, choose your investors wisely nonetheless because they are partners for the entire journey whether you like it or not.”
