Imagindairy’s animal-free dairy gets green light in Israel
The news follows a successful FDA approval earlier this year
Israeli foodtech company Imagindairy, which develops animal-free milk proteins using precision fermentation, has received regulatory approval from the Israeli Ministry of Health to market its products in Israel. The approval enables the company to sell its products in the Israeli market, joining the FDA approval to sell in the U.S. market, which the company received earlier this year.
"The Ministry of Health's approval to market our products in Israel is a significant milestone for the company, demonstrating the safety of our quality milk proteins," says CEO Dr. Eyal Afergan. "We are excited to bring our products to the Israeli market and provide consumers with a quality, healthy dairy experience, without reliance on animals. This approval unlocks additional marketing opportunities and allows us to continue developing sustainable solutions for future food, a topic that is becoming increasingly prominent in the public agenda, given Israel's need for food security to ensure a continuous and independent food supply for its residents."
Imagindairy develops and produces milk proteins that are identical in taste, texture, and nutritional value to cow milk proteins, but without any use of animals. These proteins can be used to produce a wide variety of dairy products such as milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, and more. Products are free from cholesterol, lactose, or hormones and are produced using an environmentally friendly fermentation method that significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions, land use, and water consumption.
