“Today the conversation is growth - but sustainable growth”
“Companies need to be extremely focused on product market fit,” Galia Beer-Gabel, Partner at Team8 Fintech, told CTech at Calcalist’s Mind the Tech 2022 Conference in New York. “They must make sure they have a product that customers really want and are also willing to pay for”
Galia Beer-Gabel, Partner at Team8 Fintech, sat down with CTech at Calcalist’s Mind the Tech 2022 Conference in New York to discuss a wide range of issues both from the company and investor perspective, including the opportunity for global expansion for Fintech startups.
“Israelis are very much focused on expansion to the U.S., but it’s a big world out there, especially for fintech. I think there are other markets that can be extremely relevant like Asia, where the investment in fintech has been as high as the U.S. in the past couple of quarters. There is the expansion to Africa, there is a great opportunity to roll out new services there. And of course Latin America, which is a booming market when it comes to e-commerce, where regulation is very favorable for fintech innovation.”
When speaking about what startups must do, Beer-Gabel said, “Companies need to be extremely focused on product market fit. They must make sure they have a product that customers really want and are also willing to pay for.”

Regarding what investors are looking for today, Beer-Gabel said, “Today the conversation is growth - but sustainable growth, how you are going to make money out of it. That’s what’s really changed in the conversation with investors. Depending where you are in the different stages of your startup, you need to be able to demonstrate how you are going to make money out of your product.”
