"AI will allow the doctor to be more attentive to the patient"

Industry leaders gathered to discuss the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on everyday life and the labor market at Calcalist's AI Conference on Tuesday. With concerns about job displacement on the rise, panelists including Amir Di-Nur, GM of eBay Israel, Aviv Ben Arie, Data Science Group Manager at Intuit, and Yael Peled Adam, CPO and co-founder of Laguna Health, shared insights on how AI can enhance human interaction, improve efficiency, and revolutionize industries by streamlining processes and elevating user experiences.
Will artificial intelligence take our jobs or will it work alongside us?
Yael Peled Adam, from the startup Laguna Health, shared an intriguing perspective: "We are building a platform that acts as a co-pilot between the patient and the therapist. Today, doctors spend a lot of time typing on computers and less time interacting with patients. Our platform provides the doctor with a summary of the patient’s condition and visit highlights, enabling them to be more attentive to the patient. Additionally, the system can identify the patient’s anxieties and prompt the doctor to address these concerns."
So, AI actually brings people closer together?
"Exactly. We’re putting eye contact and human connection back into the equation. The system also provides feedback to doctors on the therapist’s level of empathy," added Peled Adam.
How has AI changed work at e-commerce giant eBay?
Amir Di-Nur commented: "Some of the skills required from our employees have changed. For example, developers now work differently. In the short term, these changes are manageable, but in the long term, as technology develops, the potential is limitless. We are not talking about distant times, so the impact will be even more dramatic."
Aviv Ben Arie from the American fintech company Intuit added: "We already assist customers in performing tasks, and in the future, we aim to handle tasks for them. Ultimately, AI will work in our favor—it eliminates the need for technical, repetitive tasks and frees up time for more creative work. We’ve already seen increased satisfaction among our developers because they are focusing on the most interesting tasks."

"There are many layers to it, starting with accelerated development that improves the user experience. E-commerce involves a lot of data, especially in areas like shipping and fraud detection, but the most significant change will be in the user interface. Today, the process involves searching by keywords and specific features. In the future, users will simply tell the application what they want, and it will understand exactly what they’re looking for, like a conversation with a salesperson in a store. This will involve text, sound, and images. The experience will be more intuitive, as if the application understands you, not just your words."
How is AI applied within organizations, particularly in a fintech company like Intuit?
Ben Arie explained: "We have to ensure that our data is clean and consistent. When the AI revolution began, we decided that data is king in every area of our operations. From conversations with colleagues, I understand that many of them spend a lot of time cleaning and organizing data. We maintain large tables to keep information accessible across the organization, which saves a lot of time. Although we are a big company, we operate like a startup."
