“I think it's our responsibility as a community… to go out of our way to create opportunities for women.”
Yasmin Lukatz, Founder and Executive Director at Icon, spoke to CTech about the role of women in executive roles.
“Women in executive roles is something that I really care about personally. Now most of my team is also female, so we all care about that. But it's worrisome: It's not where I would like it to be,” said Yasmin Lukatz, Founder and Executive Director at Icon. “I think we all share this concern, this moral responsibility, men and women alike, for ourselves, for our society, for our daughters. Even men should worry about this.”
Lukatz made the remarks at the Israeli Business Delegation in Paris, hosted by Calcalist and Bank Hapoalim. As Founder and Executive Director at Icon, she is responsible for the 10-year-old nonprofit that seeks to help Israeli entrepreneurs, tech entrepreneurs, or corporate executives in the US with partnerships and collaborations.
“I think it's our responsibility as a community, as investors, as people in this industry to go out of our way to create opportunities for women, to make sure they see the opportunities to put them on stage to invite them into the accelerators,” Lukatz added. “At the end of the day, I'm not going to admit a woman in my accelerator or make an investment if she's not as good as a man, but I'm going to go out of my way to create the opportunity.”
