“We're shifting from an era of one size fits all therapy to a truly personalized adaptive brain therapy,” said Dr. Jonathan Reiner, Senior Neurologist and Head of the Neuromodulation and Deep Brain Stimulation Service at Beilinson Hospital. Speaking to CTech at Calcalist, CTech and Bank Leumi’s Mind The Tech conference in Berlin, Reiner explained the hospital’s pioneering work around neuromodulation, considered one of the most innovative technologies in medicine today: “the ability to influence and change the brain's electrical activity.”

He noted that neuromodulation is moving treatments beyond symptom relief and toward truly personalized therapy, as clinicians can now “record the electrical activity from within the brain” and gain insight into each patient’s unique patterns. Reiner further explained that AI enables analysis of “vast amounts of data” collected from patients in real-world conditions, helping identify hidden neural patterns and refine brain health models. At the same time, he highlighted how such capabilities come with significant ethical responsibilities, including protecting “neuro privacy,” ensuring autonomy and consent, and considering “where's the limit.”
